 DAY 3:
We are already having to rethink things, we made it to Joshua tree. Barely.

Then today we crept along through Arizona through what appear to be flat lands but which are really a series of long slow upgrades. Turns out Belugas like the artic and cooler weather, and they definitely don't like towing! Who knew that a truck rated to tow 5200 lbs really meant 3000 but only with a taiind and on flats or downgrades!

And if you ever wondered what it's like inside a convection oven, I can help you out there. You see when beluga (the truck) overheats,we blast the heater on high, roll down the windows and start chanting, "come on Beluga". While I don't think the latter part has anything to do with a convection oven, or at least I've never heard said chant coming from any convection ovens I've seen, the rest feels like we are dry roasting without a rotisserie. At least with a rotisserie the backs of us would be getting some air circulation. Oh, and dehydration! Did I mention the temperature outside is a nice 85 degrees. It is cooler outside. We probably would be sweating if it wasn't such dry convection oven
Heat swirling around us. We drink water and tea and sodas and energy drinks and we never have to pee. That probably means we are still not drinking enough. When we get to my dads in Arizona we are going to rethink things and come up with a new plan. We will keep you posted.

  1. So now a picture of the front end. I can't see real clearly but it almost looks like a bug screen on the front of the rad. Those are generally too fine of a mesh and really restrict air movement. But I may just be seeing (or not seeing) something.

But wide open to put an electric fan in front of the rad so that will be an easy mod.
