Day 8: Sunday May 10 Grand Canyon

Sunday, May 10

Grand Canyon (and more Ibuprofen). We got to hook up to the grey water and black water dumping stations today. Our first time and we nailed it! I haven't mentioned how awesome it is having your own toilet to pee in first thing in the morning when it is 39 degrees outside, or when we were stopped with the truck overheating in the middle of nowhere. Pretty awesome!

Grand Canyon was pretty amazing. So incredibly immense! And of course beautiful. We hopped on the free shuttle that takes you out to various vista points and took a gazillion pictures.

They have a really spectacular geological museum at the Yavapai point. (And a bunch of Mule Deer just roaming around where ever)

Yavapai Point is the section of the grand canyon that all the muckety mucks agreed was THE
BEST view of the rest of the grand canyon. 14 miles worth can be seen from this spot. Plus they put in the museum which gives all the information about how the earth and the layers of the grand canyon were formed. It was actually very interesting and worth the stop.

When we got back to our truck, we found out why they had special parking lot sections for RV's. (which were full when we arrived) Turns out the reason they don't want RV's parking in regular parking lots is that once it fills up with cars, it is very tight for an RV to maneuver around. But team Fox went into gear and we squeezed our way out of that too. Forgot to take a picture of the tight squeeze due to chaos.

Then we pulled over at a vista point, parked, got into our R-Pod, made grilled cheese sandwiches with jalapeƱos and pepperchinis and sat out on the rock wall with the Grand Canyon as our back drop. Pretty good day. Next is a six hour drive to Bryce Canyon where we will stay for two nights.

  9. Awesome adventures continue!
great seeing one of the natural wonders, and the pictures you take of each other is also awesome. You can see the fun you are having.
I drove a U-crawl truck all over the US sometimes with a trailer. I am sure that now the two of you are getting used to planning your exit as you pull in to park.
