Day 4: New Truck, probably

After good cool showers the previous night, and lots of visiting with family, We set out today to have Beluga looked at by a mechanic. There was lots of car jargon that all made sense at the time most of which I have since forgotten, but the gist was that Beluga is fine, he just can't pull the manatee without some added beefing up. (read $$$).

The Mechanic asked us how attached to the truck we were, and when we said, not that much, he said it would be better to move on.

So we got back in Beluga (working fine around town without the Manatee attached) and went to several dealerships looking for our perfect Beluga 2.

After looking all day, we narrowed it down to three choices and after negotiating some amenities to be added on for free (hard cover tonneau, side rails, minor cosmetic fixes) and an extra $1500 over what they were going to offer for the trade in value of Beluga) we finally decided on a 2010 Dodge Ram 1500 Laramie 4x4 Quad Cab!! You should feel the power in this beast!! :) :)

We will be picking up the new to us truck on Friday May 8. Now we need a new name:
 Beluga2
TwoLuga
2Luga

The benefit of the last two choices (TwoLuga and 2Luga) is that they are both available as personal license plates :)

Any other good suggestions? By the way, the new truck is also a big white truck :)

Migaloo a white humpback whale in Austrailia (Available as a personal license plate)

Moby Dick (too many letters for a personal license)

Humphrey - the humpback whale in San Francisco Bay (not available as a personal license plate)

  1. If we're on a Moby Dick theme, There's also:
    ISHMAIL
    PEQUOD

But both are taken. As is CNYNERO

  2. also keep in mind that you can choose a personalized plate from different catagories. So Migaloo might not be available as a commercial vanity plate, but maybe its available as a agricultural plate, or wildlife conservation plate, or breast cancer awareness plate. Or maybe not. In Maine, you can have a Migaloo plate that is an Agricultural plate and a Veterans plate and a wildlife conservation plate. So, maybe you already know that, and/or maybe that's not an option in CA.

  3. Sounds like you did the best amount of homework, and research, and looking around, and letting the seller know what's on the line, and what the goal of the vehicle is. This is the vehicle you are supposed to have. And obviously you couldn't get it in California, mostly because it's in Arizona. I find that I am in love the universe when I don't interfere :)
